Manager/Director of Portfolio Strategy

Responsibilities
Partner and collaborate with other internal departments such as Front, Middle, and Back office subject matter experts in support of client forward market hedge recommendations
Design reporting frameworks with internal ACES service providers to provide insight about client portfolios and forward risk metrics
Develop client-specific analytical support to interpret long-term portfolio risks and the effects of risk mitigation activities
Support screening the market for portfolio opportunities, evaluating and selecting the key strategic opportunities, running analysis and modeling
Adhere to communication timelines and support periodic meetings with clients and ACES service providers
Manage quantitative, qualitative, and analytical support for strategic initiatives
Command an excellent working knowledge of portfolio components and risk exposures for clients for a period of one month to ten years
Gather market intelligence and risk management advice for clients
Construct compelling presentations for and on behalf of ACES and member leadership teams
Support client or internal ACES staff in resource evaluations or integrated resource planning efforts
Assist in the development of portfolio modeling and data science staff
Provide reports to senior management and boards of directors of clients and ACES
Expand service opportunities, extend relationships with existing clients and provide leads to new business development
Ability to travel
Adheres to and is supportive of all ACES corporate policies and complies with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position

Qualification
Required
College degree in a related field. Advanced degree highly desirable
Five (5) years of commercial, transactional, power trading and operations experience
Preferred experience in one or more of the following areas: origination, mid-marketing, transmission, portfolio management, portfolio modeling, resource planning, middle and/or back office activities of power marketing
Command of traded energy risk management products and risk management fundamentals as well as portfolio management and finance concepts including asset valuation, correlation of investment returns, option valuation techniques, and probability theories
Experience and working knowledge of the US electric transmission grid and associated regional transmission organizations
Excellent knowledge of electric generation assets and related fuels
Working knowledge of Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs), Independent System Operators (ISOs) and established pools and their associated constructs for energy, capacity, ancillaries, transmission and other products
Demonstrated mastery of traded capacity risk management products and capacity market fundamentals
Evidence of strong project management capabilities
Excellent customer relationship management skills
Strong ability to work with teams and coordinate contributions of others to achieve results
High degree of analytical ability, mathematics and technical concepts to analyze situation needs and deliver solutions
Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management and executive leadership verbally and in writing. Demonstrated public speaking and consultative skills as well as experience presenting technical subject matter
Series 3, National Commodity Futures Examination, qualified in past 2 years OR will sit for the Series 3 after hired. Series 30, NFA Branch Manager Examination, if applicable based on location
College degree in an appropriate discipline with at least 10 years experience in the wholesale energy business. Advanced degree highly desirable
Experience in one or more origination, mid-marketing, trading, transmission, portfolio management, portfolio modeling, resource planning, middle and/or back office activities of power marketing highly desirable
Command of traded energy risk management products and risk management fundamentals
