Mid LevelShades of Grey HR is seeking an Evening English Language Arts (ELA) Adjunct Instructor at the Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School to support adult learners through high-quality English instruction. This role involves teaching ELA courses, developing lesson plans, and assessing learner progress to ensure student success in achieving their educational goals.
Human Resources
Responsibilities
Teach adult basic education, secondary, or postsecondary-level ELA courses within the assigned instructional level
Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned to College and Career Readiness Standards and AoH curriculum maps
Provide direct and indirect instruction using adult-centered, culturally responsive teaching practices
Assess learner progress and adjust instruction to meet individual needs
Prepare learners for required assessments (e.g., CASAS, GED, NEDP, Accuplacer)
Maintain accurate attendance and learner progress records
Collaborate with instructional staff and Student Support Services to support learner success
Participate in required professional development and instructional feedback opportunities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
Strong instructional, communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and adult learner success
Preferred
Education, English, Humanities, or related field preferred
Experience teaching adult learners strongly preferred
Experience teaching literacy, English, writing, reading, social studies, or integrated humanities coursework
Familiarity with College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education
Experience with adult assessments (CASAS, GED, NEDP, Accuplacer) preferred
