Responsibilities
Ensure the integrity of the financial statements and a Sarbanes-Oxley control environment
Improve financial and business acumen by seeking personal education and reviewing business information and technical documents
Support and influence the development and review of budgets and business planning activities
Support and influence the development and review of monthly forecasts and savings/use
Actively develop and foster relationships within the team and with business partner(s)
Analyze financial reports and cost data to influence outcomes for the achievement of business objectives
Provide management with financial and operational insight to drive effective decision-making
Participate in special projects and initiatives as requested
Refine skills to work independently as a financial consultant
Qualification
Required
Technical Accounting experience is required
Deep understanding of GAAP/IFRS, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance, SEC Reporting, Revenue Recognition (ASC 606), and Equity Accounting
Ability to perform technical research on complex accounting matters, document findings, and draft policies
Ability to analyze financial statements (balance sheets, cash flows)
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-accountants and senior leadership
High level of accuracy in auditing, reporting, and compliance
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, with a CPA/CA license strongly preferred
Must have strong MS Excel skills for complex spreadsheet modeling
Preferred
Technical Accounting experience at an Electric Utility company is a plus
Experience with systems like Oracle NetSuite, SAP, or QuickBooks is preferred
Technical Accounting experience in Utilities/Oil & Gas/Energy is preferred
