Temporary Staff Attorney, Law Reform Unit
The Legal Aid Society is seeking a Temporary Staff Attorney for their Law Reform Unit to focus on systemic reforms related to supportive housing and Source of Income discrimination. The role involves representing clients in litigation, conducting policy advocacy, and collaborating with various organizations.

Responsibilities
Represent clients in affirmative litigation in State and federal court proceedings, and defensive representation as needed
Train in-house staff and staff in other organizations; engage in community outreach and education to individuals, local community-based organizations, and advocates
Conduct policy advocacy and advocate with local, State, and federal agencies
Coordinate and collaborate with other groups and organizations
Work with pro bono lawyers
Conduct off-site intake, including during evening hours
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Admission to New York State Bar
A minimum of 2 years legal practice
Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team and manage a high volume of cases
Ability to coordinate and collaborate successfully with other groups and organizations
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to work with pro bono lawyers
Preferred
Proficiency in languages other than English is desirable, but not required
