Systems Integration Engineer, F-15

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Integration Engineer located at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, supporting the F-15 Division of the U.S. Air Force. In this critical role, you will be responsible for system definition, development, integration, verification, and risk management across a wide range of hardware and software systems.

Responsibilities

Lead the review, development, and maintenance of system integration engineering documentation addressing program requirements and system safety compliance
Plan and coordinate systems engineering risk assessments, maintain risk management reviews, and update risk management metrics
Support the F-15 Division Airworthiness Certification Working Group; lead airworthiness risk assessments and preparation of documentation for MFR/MTC certification
Analyze Built-in Test (BIT) failure reports, technical proposals, and modifications for design feasibility, system capability, and safety compliance
Develop and oversee the Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) process to ensure weapon system requirements are met throughout the program lifecycle
Manage failure reporting, analysis, and corrective actions by coordinating with asset management databases and program stakeholders
Provide expert guidance on system design baseline, architecture, interoperability, and compatibility assessments
Apply full system safety philosophies and policies in acquisition and sustainment programs; conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses
Organize and co-chair annual System Safety Group Meetings, System Safety Working Groups, and crisis management team meetings
Lead mishap investigations and develop solutions addressing findings and recommendations with cross-disciplinary teams
Support technical reviews, configuration control boards, waivers, and deviation requests ensuring aircraft system safety
Maintain hazard tracking logs through closure and update safety recommendations biannually
Participate in conferences and support program reviews for system safety and airworthiness compliance
Evaluate and provide detailed analyses of ECPs, contractor proposals, technical orders, safety escape issues, and airworthiness documentation

Required

Demonstrated senior-level expertise in systems integration engineering with a deep understanding of system definition, development, integration, verification, sustainment, risk management, test & evaluation (T&E), human systems integration, crew stations engineering, operational safety, survivability, and effectiveness (OSS&E), interoperability, and airworthiness certification
Proven ability to work independently and lead complex technical efforts with minimal oversight, including interfacing with Program Office and Staff Level Support
Demonstrated proficiency in system safety management consistent with MIL-STD-882E, AFI 91-202, and related AFMC supplements
Ability to develop and maintain comprehensive Modification Airworthiness Criteria Certification packages and support Airworthiness Review Board Meetings to secure Military Flight Release (MFR)/Military Type Certificates (MTC)
Strong experience in risk assessments, reliability and maintainability (R&M) process development, hazard tracking, mishap investigations, and system safety program management
Experience coordinating and leading System Safety Group Meetings, System Safety Working Group meetings, crisis management teams, and Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings
Skilled in analyzing and reviewing engineering change proposals (ECPs), contractor safety proposals, failure reports, and technical documentation to ensure compliance with airworthiness and system safety standards
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience and a MS in engineering and an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in engineering OR, twenty (20) years of experience and an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in engineering

Preferred

Prior FMS experience
Extensive knowledge of MIL-STD-882E and application of system safety philosophy across acquisition management and sustainment programs
Proven track record in leading airworthiness certification efforts and risk management for complex weapon systems
Experience supporting or managing system safety program plans, hazard analyses, risk acceptance packages, and mishap risk assessments
Familiarity with the USAF Safety Automated System and Mishap Review Panel processes
Excellent briefing and presentation skills for senior-level program meetings
