Responsibilities
Analyzing assigned division’s budget requests; making entries and running reports in the BRASS budgeting system (MOVERS in 2024), providing technical advice and assisting the division in the preparation of budgets, and providing recommendations on budget performance measures
Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing the fiscal impact of proposed legislation on DSS and work with assigned division to complete fiscal note responses
Preparing and monitoring assigned division’s coding sheets for payment documents and completing necessary SAM II budgetary documents as needed
Researching and analyzing topics, presenting recommendations to DSS management regarding important budget and policy matters
Tracking progress on assigned division’s budget and maintaining Excel spreadsheets to balance each step of the budget cycle
Generating and maintaining a variety of budget and expenditure tracking reports using the state financial system, Excel, and Access
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)
Preferred
The person in this position should be organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change
Must have excellent time management and (written and verbal) communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, agency staff, and vendors
Ability to work independently in assessing and managing priorities
Ability to analyze facts, apply identified parameters, and draw conclusions
Experience with computers and desktop applications, including Microsoft Office products
Knowledge of SAM II and Excel formulas preferred
