Responsibilities
Answer calls from the public, law enforcement, and staff regarding animal-related concerns
Gather accurate details, determine urgency, and prioritize calls for service
Dispatch Animal Control Officers using two-way radios and dispatch systems
Provide calm, compassionate assistance to callers, including distressed or upset individuals
Enter and maintain call information, reports, and documentation
Share general information and route calls to the appropriate personnel
Deliver professional customer service and effective problem-solving across all communication channels
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
One (1) year of experience in customer service
You remain calm, focused, and professional in fast-paced or high-stress situations
You communicate clearly and respectfully, both verbally and in writing
You are comfortable assisting the public, including individuals who may be upset or distressed
You are organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities at once
You are confident using computers, office technology, and job-related software
You can quickly learn new systems, procedures, and Animal Control services
You follow written and verbal instructions while using sound judgment and initiative
You take pride in maintaining accurate records, reports, and documentation
You are comfortable operating radio and communications equipment or willing to learn
You are familiar with County streets and landmarks—or able to learn them quickly
You work well independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
You build positive, professional relationships with coworkers, supervisors, partner agencies, and the public
