Operations Engineer – IP & Routing

Responsibilities

Support and resolve of the most difficult or advanced network problems using expert level troubleshooting and analysis methods
Produce and peer review MOPS for complex changes on the network
Perform proactive monitoring, configuration management and fault resolution of complex problems
Provide training, assistance, and support for the NOC
Performs customer advocate duties while maintaining a positive and professional manner, especially during high stress situations
Work in conjunction with internal technicians and external service providers/engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues
Contribute toward departmental and company goals and objectives
All other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in telecommunications, electronics, or computer science
5 years working in Network Operations, Engineering, or Field Service in the telecommunications industry
Successful candidate will have prior experience with one of the SME focus areas IP & Routing, Voice, Video, as well as a solid understanding of Ethernet & IP protocols
Prior hands-on experience with EMS, NMS, ticketing systems, and other network tools is desirable
Understanding of IP networking, TCP/IP protocols, Routing and Switching
Must enjoy a dynamic a continually changing work environment and willingness to adapt to changes in priority and focus
Willing to be on call and work maintenance window activity and or rotating shifts as needed
Clear and concise verbal/written communications skills is essential
Deep knowledge of IP & Routing subject matter expert
Expert level knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, SD-WAN
Experience in dealing with LEC's and other carriers

Preferred

Prior hands-on experience with EMS, NMS, ticketing systems, and other network tools is desirable
Experience with Nokia, Adtran, Calix, Cisco and/or Juniper equipment is desirable
Technology and Equipment certifications are strongly desired
