Birth Tissue Coordinator
DCI Donor Services, Inc. is a leader in organ and tissue donation, seeking a Birth Tissue Coordinator to join their team. This role involves obtaining authorization from new mothers for placenta donation and coordinating the recovery process, including education and consent. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for saving lives through donation.

Responsibilities
Corresponds with hospitals and birthing centers to coordinate onsite birth tissue recovery initiatives. Travels by car to assigned facilities to provide appropriate recovery and education support
Initiates the donation discussion for placenta donation with new moms prior to delivery. Provides education on how the mother's new baby can be Life's Little Helper!
Coordinates birth tissue donation process by obtaining informed consent, completing the Donor Risk Assessment Interview, and determines suitability
Acquires donated birth tissue using proper aseptic techniques and personal protective equipment
Enters timely and accurate medical records in electronic database
Collaborates and maintains effective communication with nurses, obstetricians, and other medical personnel
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required
Two years tissue banking or related experience or surgical operating room experience
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written formats
Ability to obtain informed consent, complete the Donor Risk Assessment Interview, and determine suitability
Ability to acquire donated birth tissue using proper aseptic techniques and personal protective equipment
Ability to enter timely and accurate medical records in electronic database
Ability to collaborate and maintain effective communication with nurses, obstetricians, and other medical personnel
Ability to perform other duties as assigned
Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive; observe, talk, and listen; read, write, communicate verbally and in writing; lift and carry containers, tissues, and supplies (up to 80 lbs.); handle small and sharp instrumentation; travel in automobiles to and from hospital and donor recovery locations
Preferred
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
AATB Certified Tissue Banking Specialist (CTBS) and/or EBAA Certified Eye Bank Technician (CEBT) preferred
LPN or CNA highly desired!
