Sheriff's Records Clerk I
NEOGOV is seeking applicants for several Sheriff's Records Clerk I positions with locations throughout Riverside County. The Sheriff's Records Clerk I performs a wide variety of specialized clerical support services to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, including interacting with incarcerated persons, criminal database verification, and providing assistance to the public and other law enforcement branches.

Responsibilities
Compile data for, summarize and maintain a variety of statistical logs, reports, records, lists, and files
Perform detailed clerical work matching numbers, verifying names and numbers, filing confidential documents, and reviewing, compiling and matching lists
Process and research information on individuals to provide security clearances; process security and background clearances, inmate releases and infractions
Perform booking, subpoena, restraining order, criminal and traffic citation infractions, felony and misdemeanor warrant, and other criminal record processes
May schedule appointments and court appearances; notify other agencies of detainers or holds
Conduct record searches in a centralized law enforcement data base to assist with criminal and other investigations
Provide information and documents to law enforcement agencies, courts and attorneys, in accordance with legal requirements governing release of information
Evaluate images on video display screen for diagnostic quality and presence of artifacts; evaluate videotapes and computer-generated information for technical quality; take corrective action as indicated to ensure image quality
Qualification
Required
One year of clerical experience with a law enforcement agency (e.g., sheriff's office, district attorney's office, public defender's office, or police department) or a bachelor's degree
Basic functions and activities of a law enforcement agency
Basic recordkeeping and accounting methods and procedures
Computer operating systems
Correct English usage, grammar and rules of punctuation and spelling
Standard and legal requirements on confidentiality and privacy
Access automated criminal justice information systems to enter, modify and retrieve data into local, state and national computer systems
Work in a law enforcement environment
Develop a working knowledge of departmental operations, procedures and regulations
Understand, interpret and apply departmental policies, procedures, rules, laws, regulations, ordinances, functions, and processes applicable to the management of local, state and federal law enforcement records
Handle stressful situations with the public and cope with a variety of individuals who may be hostile, aggressive, irate, uncooperative, and/or emotionally disturbed
Maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required
Must obtain California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) certification within six months of employment
Prior to appointment, must pass a background check, which includes a polygraph
Preferred
Clerical experience within a law enforcement agency is preferred

MEDICAL/DENTAL/VISION INSURANCE: A choice of different medical, dental and visions plan are available to elect. The County provides a Flexible Benefit Credit contribution as governed by the applicable LIUNA Memorandum of Understanding to contribute towards the cost of these plans.
MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT: County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual): 0 < 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days) 4 < 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days) 10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days) Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance)
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Employees contribute to State Disability Insurance (SDI), which provides wage replacement benefits for those unable to work due to non-work-related illness, injury, or pregnancy. SDI also includes Paid Family Leave benefits. The wage replacement rate, as defined by current law, is between 60-70% of wages earned during the SDI eligibility period. Benefits can be coordinated with other available leave balances to provide up to 100% of regular pay.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
