Responsibilities

Performs airport and highway maintenance at a State maintenance station that includes a rural Part 139 certificated airport
Responsible for maintaining State highways, airports, seaplane floats, bridges, and docks in a safe and fully operable condition for use by the traveling public
Complies with all applicable Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and State of Alaska rules and regulations concerning maintenance and operation of highways and airports
Utilizes various types of light duty equipment to perform maintenance activities in support of State of Alaska mission and maintenance of infrastructure
Use of heavy equipment will be in a training capacity

Required

Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in accordance with 49 CFR Part 383.23
Compliance with the most recent Equipment Operator Flex Letter of Agreement (LOA)
Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements applicable to CDL and safety-sensitive positions
Drug screening is required prior to operating any equipment requiring a CDL
Subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with established policy
For Equipment Operator Journey 1: Obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of hire
For Equipment Operator Journey 2: A valid Tanker (N) endorsement is required at the time of appointment or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire
For Equipment Operator Journey 3: A valid Tanker (N) endorsement is required at the time of appointment or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire
If flexing from Equipment Operator Journey 2 to Equipment Operator Journey 3, must meet all requirements outlined in the most recent Equipment Operator Flex LOA
Must provide a current copy of your Commercial Driver's License with endorsements if applying for Equipment Operator Journey 2 Level or higher
Three (3) professional references, including name, job title, and current phone numbers
Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road including cost and limits
Knowledge of procedures for operating motor vehicles, including cars, trucks, or watercraft
Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations
Accurately coordinate one's eyes with one's fingers, wrists, or arms to perform job-related tasks
