Responsibilities
Defend clients in New York Labor Law, construction defect, and scaffold injury claims from inception through trial
Analyze insurance policies and draft coverage opinions, reservations of rights, and disclaimers
Litigate coverage disputes, including declaratory judgment actions related to construction and Labor Law
Conduct and defend depositions (percipient witnesses, experts, corporate representatives), prepare dispositive motions, and argue in court
Collaborate with experts (structural engineers, safety consultants) and claims adjusters to develop litigation and settlement strategies
Provide strategic, cost-effective counsel and maintain direct client relationships
Qualification
Required
3+ years of insurance defense experience, with emphasis on construction defects, Labor Law §240/241, premises liability, or related commercial litigation
Strong legal writing and analytical skills
Comfort advising insurer clients and handling complex policy and statutory issues
Admitted in New York (additional admissions a plus)
Collaborative, client-focused mindset with interest in long-term growth and potential transition into broader commercial litigation
