Fleet & Equipment Technician I/II
NEOGOV is seeking a Fleet & Equipment Technician I/II to provide technical support and maintenance for the District’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. The role involves inspecting, diagnosing, and performing repairs on various vehicles and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities
Inspects, diagnoses, and performs major repairs and overhauls on the District’s fleet vehicles and construction equipment including, but not limited to gasoline, diesel and natural gas automobiles, trucks, graders, tractors, wheel loaders, truck cranes, stationary motors and engines, and related equipment
Inspects, troubleshoots, diagnoses, repairs, cleans, adjusts and installs fuel, ignition, electrical, and cooling systems involving repair and replacement of electrical, mechanical and related components which impact engine, transmission, brakes and overall vehicle operating systems
Diagnoses, repairs, and replaces electrical components including alternator relays, lights, sockets, switches, electrical assemblies, on board computers, and computer components
Performs preventive maintenance inspections and services on all District fleet including oil changes, tune-ups, filter replacements, brakes, tires, and worn parts
Adjusts, replaces, repairs, or overhauls a variety of engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, brake systems, pumps, injectors, carburetors, and steering systems and components
Inspects and services vehicle air conditioning systems; troubleshoots malfunctioning components and performs repairs following EPA regulations
Road tests vehicles; services, maintains, and repairs small engines; performs smog checks and certifies vehicles; repairs missing, modified, or non-functional emission control equipment; performs regulatory inspections for Class A and Class B vehicles and trailers
Drives and operates fuel truck to perform preventative maintenance service for large generators and equipment; refuels generators
Diagnoses and repairs all aspects of equipment and vehicles in the field, including emergencies and after-hours assignments
Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications; estimates labor, materials, and equipment required to complete assignments
Transports heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, backhoes, generators, etc., to other District facilities utilizing trucks and trailers
Maintains a log of work, tasks, time, and material records
Observes and complies with District and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Equivalent to a High School Diploma, supplemented by specialized training in diesel or gasoline-powered mechanics
Fleet and Equipment Technician I – Two (2) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment
Fleet and Equipment Technician II – Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment
Possession of a valid California Driver's License, to be maintained throughout employment
Possession of a valid California Class A Driver's License, including endorsements for doubles, triples, hazardous materials, and tanker within twelve (12) months of appointment, to be maintained throughout employment
Preferred
Possession of an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Master Certification
