Associate Scientific Director / Scientific Director

The Associate Scientific Director or Scientific Director will oversee the development and implementation of evidence-based content, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure scientific accuracy and clinical relevance.

Responsibilities

Lead the creation, review, and refinement of scientific content, including articles, educational programs, videos, clinician resources, and other digital media
Lead the development of our “Academic Highlight” service line which includes building a discussion guide for a panel of KOLs, supporting the panel chair during the panel meeting, drafting an outline of an academic manuscript following the panel, supporting a medical writer in completing the manuscript or writing it yourself, and working with panelists and other stakeholders to deliver a completed manuscript for submission to a medical journal. Along the way, work with the panel chair and / or other panelists to develop brief summary videos
Ensure the scientific accuracy and clinical relevance of all materials, adhering to rigorous standards of evidence-based medicine
Collaborate with faculty, medical writers, editors, and PPP / EMC staff to develop high-impact content that meets the needs of healthcare professionals
Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders, medical affairs representatives from pharmaceutical customers, and external experts to support content creation and educational initiatives
Act as the point of contact between the scientific team and other departments, including promotions, operations, and leadership
Act as the point of contact between PPP / EMC and pharmaceutical customers when relevant
Stay current with the latest research, clinical guidelines, and developments in psychiatry and related fields to inform content and strategy
Drive innovation by integrating new educational formats, technologies, and methodologies into scientific and educational programs
Ensure that all content complies with industry regulations, ethical standards, and guidelines (e.g., ICMJE)
Safeguard the integrity of published material and uphold the publisher's reputation for clinical excellence

Required

Advanced degree in neuroscience, pharmacology, pharmacy, medical science, or related field
Experience in medical affairs, medical publishing, academic journals, medical communications, and/or medical education
Understanding of clinical practice, clinical research methodologies, and evidence-based medicine (initially focused on neuroscience, but expected to expand further)
Proven leadership in independently managing scientific projects or educational programs
Strong editorial, writing, and communication skills, with attention to scientific rigor and clarity
Ability to interact with diverse stakeholders, including clinician faculty, operational teams, and pharma clients
Familiarity with medical regulatory standards and compliance requirements for scientific publishing and education
At least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within medical affairs, medical publishing, continuing medical education, or academic institutions
Demonstrated track record of leading the development of medical content, peer-reviewed publications, or educational materials

Preferred

Familiarity with digital publishing and multimedia content development
