InternLarimer County Department of Health and Environment is offering a temporary, paid internship position for the summer months. The role involves conducting inspections, assisting with health education programs, and implementing health initiatives within the community.

Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be assigned a primary project by the Department. The project would be expected to be completed prior to completing the internship
Train in field inspections and assist with preparing reports across all of the Environmental Health programs including waste water systems, retail food establishments, schools, child care facilities, recreation water facilities, solid and hazardous waste, and environmental conditions impacting air, water and land that can affect human health due to communicable, zoonotic and chronic disease
Qualification
Required
Sophomore-level coursework in Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field, required
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License required
General office practices and procedures
Routine software and business application including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases
Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies and standard operating procedures
Regular, predictable attendance
Understanding of environmental health principles and practices and the ability to interpret public health needs
Identify, analyze and secure corrections of out of compliance situations in accordance with Division's policies
Operate environmental health equipment including sampling, inspection equipment and inspection software
Develop good time management skills. Able to multi-task and complete work in a timely manner in a busy work environment
Preferred
Colorado School of Public Health or Department of Environmental Health student at Colorado State University
