Responsibilities
Coordinate editing assignments for early newscasts
Edit video content for daily newscasts, news updates, promotions, and special reports
Operate and monitor the station’s news feed systems, ensuring the accurate capture of live video content
Maintain the technical quality and operation of editing bays
Select and archive special video content for future use
Coordinate and execute video editing tasks under deadline pressure for newscasts, updates, promotions, and special series
Operate feed station equipment and record incoming video from satellite and microwave transmissions
As needed and after completing editing responsibilities, shoot and report news content in the field
Maintain edit bay standards and report technical issues to appropriate departments
Qualification
Required
Strong video editing ability, including storytelling, pacing, and visual composition
Ability to edit various formats such as packages and voice-overs for on-air broadcast
Sound judgment and quick decision-making under deadline pressure
Familiarity with editing systems and live feed technologies
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
High level of creativity required for editing daily news content
Ability to develop visually engaging content that supports the station's storytelling goals
High school diploma required
Strong familiarity with editing equipment and workflows required
Preferred
College education preferred and beneficial for career advancement
Minimum of one year of experience as a video editor or photographer for a commercial broadcast station preferred
