Environmental Program Manager I
The State of Utah's Department of Environmental Quality is seeking an Environmental Program Manager I for the Low-Level Radioactive Waste section. The role involves leading a team to manage and regulate the Low-Level Radioactive Waste facility, ensuring compliance with laws and protecting human health and the environment.

Responsibilities
Leads a team of scientists and engineers to license and regulate the Low-Level Radioactive Waste facility in the State of Utah to protect human health, safety and the environment in accordance with the applicable laws
Supervise and direct all activities of the Low-Level Radioactive Waste program by actively solving problems, identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects, and ensuring program services are professional, responsive, fair, and supported by science and the law
Set goals, establish priorities, manage resources, develop concepts and approaches, review project progress and results
Clearly communicate expectations to staff and cultivate a culture that supports teamwork and professional development
Represent the Division and uphold DEQs mission, vision, and values
Effectively communicate and professionally engage with a variety of stakeholders, including but not limited to the public, Low-Level Radioactive Waste staff and division leadership, State and Federal Government
Qualification
Required
Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate scientific and technical information both orally and in writing to a broad range of audiences
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining professional relationships
Experience in program management, implementation or a combination of relevant education and experience
Strong leadership skills
Experience managing multiple technical projects, including planning and prioritizing work and performing in a productive and professional manner for timely completion
Experience developing and implementing continuous improvement projects
The ability to read, interpret, and apply federal and state environmental policies, laws, rules, and regulations that are technical in nature, and use logic and research to draw conclusions and propose quality solutions
Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
Demonstrated skill in evaluating reports, documents, rules and regulations
Knowledge of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Low Level Radioactive Waste regulations
Preferred
A bachelor's degree or higher in at least one of the following areas: environmental science, physical science, geology or engineering
