Director of Sales - Utility

Responsibilities

Drive revenue across assigned utility accounts and strategic opportunities covering:
New utility-scale inverter installations (greenfield projects)
Repowering, retrofit, and inverter replacement initiatives
Own the full sales lifecycle for complex and high-value utility opportunities
Lead commercial strategy, positioning, and negotiation for assigned deals
Work closely with the US Country Manager on:
Utility sales strategy and prioritization
Key account planning and customer engagement
Deal reviews, pricing alignment, and contract negotiations
Receive support from the Country Manager in executive-level customer interactions and major negotiations
Provide on-the-ground market insight to inform leadership decisions
Build and maintain senior relationships with:
IPPs and asset owners
EPCs and strategic partners
Utilities
Serve as a senior commercial interface for strategic customers
Represent the company in executive customer meetings, site visits, and industry forums
Provide day-to-day deal support and commercial guidance to Sales Account Managers
Collaborate with Sales Account Managers on opportunity strategy and execution
Partner with Service team to identify repowering opportunities from the installed base
Work closely with Engineering and Product Management to define customer-specific solutions
Coordinate with global teams to ensure alignment on product availability and execution readiness
Operate effectively in an evolving organization with limited structure or support
Take initiative to identify gaps, propose solutions, and execute improvements independently
Balance strategic thinking with hands-on deal execution

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
10+ years of experience in utility-scale solar, or power electronics
Proven success selling utility-scale products
Applicable contacts in Utility Solar Energy storage sector
Strong Contract language skills to spot incompatible technical requirements and problematic terms
Ability to disseminate contract elements to appropriate internal stakeholders
Strong executive presence and negotiation skills
Comfortable influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority
Experience operating in growth-stage or transitioning organizations
Proficiency with CRM systems and SAP
