Environmental Scientist II: Cultural Resources Manager
The State of Utah is seeking a dedicated Cultural Resources Manager to lead their cultural resource program within the Utah National Guard. This role involves balancing high-level environmental planning with cultural resources management to preserve Utah's history while supporting the Guard's mission.

Responsibilities
Lead the Program: You will develop policies, manage and implement the Integrated Cultural Resource Management Plan (ICRMP), and ensure compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA)
Build Relationships: Represent the Utah National Guard in meetings with other agencies and manage vital consultations with Tribal governments
Manage Resources: Oversee cultural resources contracts, including budgeting and scheduling, and ensure archaeological collections are curated according to federal standards (36 CFR Part 79)
Get Out in the Field: Plan and conduct investigations, including reconnaissance, intensive surveys, test excavations, and data recovery. You may supervise seasonal teams in the conduct of this fieldwork
Qualification
Required
A graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, architectural history, or a related field is preferred
At least one year of professional experience and four months of supervised field/analytic experience in Utah archaeology
Experience in research, restoration architecture, or historic preservation projects
Ability to obtain a Public Lands Policy Coordination Office (PLPCO) Principal Investigator permit within 6 months of hiring
Proficiency with NEPA analysis, Utah State Historic Preservation Office (UTSHPO) reporting standards, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office
Ability to work in varying weather conditions (hot, cold, wet) and navigate steep, rocky terrain
Must have a valid U.S. driver's license, be able to maintain State of Utah vehicle privileges, and obtain clearance for DOD computer access

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS)
Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System.
Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.
Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.
Paid Time Off
Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).
Annual leave amounts increase with years of service.
