Responsibilities
Drive thermal cooling strategies for consumer device designs with air cooling to meet performance, efficiency, and reliability goals
Lead airflow and thermal simulations using CFD tools at component, device, and system levels. Optimize custom thermal module, flow paths, heat sinks, ducting designs
Guide thermal validation plans, including the use of IR thermography, thermocouples, pressure drop measurements, and thermal tuning
Perform thermal margin analysis and ensure compliance with derating guidelines, and component lifetime requirements
Mentor junior engineers, review their designs and analyses, and help scale best practices across the organization
Collaborate closely with R&D and manufacturing to ensure high quality thermal modules to customers
Qualification
Required
M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Sciences, or related field
7+ years of hands-on experience in thermal design of high-power electronics or data center systems
Expertise in CFD tools: Ansys Icepak, Fluent, or equivalent. Topology optimization experience/expertise using cutting-edge tools
Deep understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics, including conduction, convection (forced and natural), and multi-phase cooling
Experience with Consumer electronics systems: thermal module design, air flow, AirJet integration, and hot spot mitigation
Strong track record of bringing device cooling solutions to production, with thermal domain and delivery ownership
Preferred
Familiarity with Consumer electronics platforms
Hands-on experience with lab validation, test automation, and scripting (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
Understanding of topology and optimization techniques, ideally for heat transfer problems
Experience developing AI-assisted CFD models to iterate and explore vast design space pertaining to thermal design
