Project Accountant
Leeds Professional Resources is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support real estate development and construction projects by managing job costing, financial reporting, and compliance. This role ensures accurate tracking of project finances, timely reporting, and alignment with budgets and schedules across multiple developments.
Responsibilities
Maintain project-level accounting records, including job cost ledgers, accruals, and capitalized costs
Perform monthly reconciliations of project costs, invoices, and subcontractor payments
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end project financial reports, including budget vs. actual analysis
Track change orders, contingencies, and holdbacks; update cost-to-complete forecasts
Support draw requests, owner billing, and lien waiver compliance
Assist with annual budgets, cash flow projections, and variance explanations
Coordinate with project managers, development, and procurement teams on cost data and approvals
Prepare audit schedules and support external audits and tax reporting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
3–5+ years of project accounting experience in real estate development or construction required
Proficiency in project accounting software (e.g., Yardi, Procore, Sage 300 CRE, or similar)
Strong knowledge of job costing, percentage-of-completion, and GAAP principles
Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and reporting
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
