Responsibilities
Assist in general maintenance and cleaning of parks, recreation buildings and facilities
Raking, weeding, mowing and performing miscellaneous park maintenance repair work
Provide presence at public functions to prevent property damage to Parks and Recreation buildings and facilities
Perform set-up and take down tasks for events
Sweep and mop floors, clean restrooms, empty trash containers, and general clean-up duties
Notify appropriate staff of the need for major repairs
Maintain basic record of work performed
Inventory equipment
Qualification
Required
Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license during the course of employment
Equivalent to graduation from high school
One year experience in custodial and or park maintenance
Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in janitorial and grounds maintenance work; and safe work practices
Ability to perform heavy manual labor
Ability to operate effectively and safely a variety of tools and equipment
Ability to perform simple grounds maintenance tasks
Ability to follow oral and written directions and work from simple sketches and diagrams
Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision
Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with the public
Willingness to work off hours, weekends, evenings and holidays for special events
Ability to climb ladders and carry and lift tools, equipment and materials whose weight may exceed 50 pounds
Ability to work in an outdoor environment subject to heat and cold while exerting physical effort
Certification free from communicable tuberculosis according to California State Law and provide proof of examination within the past two years
