Responsibilities

Develops daily work plans for crew personnel
Supervises and participates in the preparation and maintenance of athletic facilities and surfaces
Supervises and participates in the maintenance of parks grounds and landscaping
Supervises and participates in the maintenance of buildings, structures, and fences
Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems
Supervises and assists in park improvement projects
Inspects park grounds and facilities to identify maintenance and repair needs
Coordinates the purchase of tools, materials and equipment
Maintains a variety of grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, bush hog, top dresser, box blade pulverizer, etc
Maintains chemical application records
Repairs and maintains small engines
Performs related duties

Required

Knowledge of building maintenance methods and practices
Knowledge of departmental and safety rules and regulations
Knowledge of chemical application guidelines
Knowledge of grounds and sports field maintenance principles
Skill in the training and supervision of personnel
Skill in operating a variety of grounds maintenance equipment
Skill in directing the maintenance of facilities and grounds
Skill in operating hand and power tools
Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
