Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of Visit Durango’s annual integrated sales and marketing plan, aligning seasonal campaigns with destination priorities, partner needs, and measurable outcomes
Support and coordinate the day-to-day workflow of marketing initiatives by guiding junior staff, interns, contractors, and external partners on assigned projects
Oversee seasonal destination marketing campaigns from planning through launch, including digital advertising, email marketing, website content, and partner promotions
Manage paid advertising and cooperative (co-op) marketing programs, working closely with tourism partners to design opportunities that are equitable, brand-aligned, and results-focused
Guide campaign performance tracking and reporting by setting clear goals, reviewing results, and using data to improve marketing effectiveness and visitor outcomes
Support sales-driven marketing initiatives by developing tools and content that help convert interest into overnight stays and visitor spending
Oversee Durango.org as a visitor conversion platform, ensuring content, landing pages, and partner pathways support seasonal campaigns and trip planning
Ensure consistent messaging, quality, and brand standards across all marketing and partner-facing materials
Monitor market trends and partner feedback to inform strategy adjustments and future campaign planning

Required

A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, tourism management, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
At least four years of progressively responsible experience in destination marketing, tourism marketing, sales enablement, or a related field
Experience working with external vendors or contractors and collaborating across multiple teams
The ability to obtain a valid state driver's license and travel locally or regionally as needed

Preferred

Understand destination marketing and sustainable tourism and can apply those principles to real-world campaigns
Translate big-picture goals into clear plans, measurable outcomes, and effective marketing initiatives
Are comfortable managing paid media, cooperative marketing programs, and partner-driven campaigns
Use data and performance insights to improve marketing effectiveness and guide decision-making
Communicate clearly and build strong working relationships with tourism partners, vendors, and internal teams
Manage multiple projects at once while keeping timelines, budgets, and priorities on track
Adapt strategies thoughtfully in response to market trends, partner needs, and campaign results
