Research Assistant

University of Utah Health Research is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to support the NIDA Clinical Trials Network study on opioid use disorder. The role involves coordinating clinical trial activities, engaging with study participants, and ensuring compliance with study protocols and regulations.

Responsibilities

Complete all day‑to‑day clinical trial activities in adherence with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), study protocols, and applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations
Serve as a first point of contact for study participants and provide professional, compassionate interaction throughout the research process
Work directly with study participants and locators, ensuring supportive, responsive, and high‑quality interactions throughout the study
Recruit, screen, enroll, and obtain informed consent from study participants
Coordinate research procedures, participant visits, and follow‑up activities
Transport study materials, including traveling to off‑site locations as needed
Identify, track, and report adverse events in collaboration with the PI and sponsor requirements
Maintain study blinding and follow all study‑specific confidentiality and protocol requirements
Maintain organized research records in compliance with university and regulatory policies
Collect and maintain clinical and laboratory data with accuracy and timeliness
Assist in the preparation for site monitoring visits, sponsor audits, and regulatory reviews
Monitor supply inventory and assist in ordering materials when necessary
Carry out other duties assigned by the supervisor to support research operations

Required

1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience)
Research Assistant, I: Requires little to no related experience
Research Assistant, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience
Research Assistant, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience
Punctual, organized, adaptable, and comfortable engaging with the populations we serve
Strong attention to detail

Experience working in settings with students from all backgrounds
Strong commitment to improving access to higher education for historically underrepresented students
