Immigration Specialist

Lutheran Community Services NW is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving communities throughout Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. They are seeking an Immigration Specialist to provide information and advocacy on immigration matters, assist clients with their cases, and maintain accurate documentation while staying updated on immigration law changes.

Responsibilities

Provide information and advocacy on a wide variety of immigration matters including but not limited to Naturalization, Adjustment of Status, and Family Reunification
Complete accreditation training and credentialing in a reasonable time established by Safe Route Director and Staff Attorney
Provide in-person and phone assistance to clients with their immigration matters and provide ongoing case management and support
Schedule clients for appointments
Maintain accurate client files and detailed case notes
Attend ongoing training and continuing education courses to keep updated on recent changes in Immigration Law
Attend all-staff meetings, other meetings, and trainings as requested by supervisor
Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required

Knowledge of Immigration Law and of USCIS processes and eligibility requirements for immigration benefits including but not limited to Naturalization, Adjustment of Status, and Family Reunification
Possess strong communication (both written and verbal), time-management, and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and set priorities
Ability to work as a supportive team member
Familiarity with standard office procedures and basic knowledge of office equipment (printer, photocopy, fax, scanner, phone, etc.)
Requires strict adherence of HIPAA standards in the office workspace to ensure client confidentiality
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School graduate or above; Minimum one year of related experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English. Must have the ability to write memos and other basic correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be working towards partial accreditation by the Department of Justice (DOJ)

Bachelor's Degree preferred
Bilingual or multilingual preferred but not required
