CONTRACT Corporate Credit and Lending Attorney

TruLegal is seeking a Corporate Credit and Lending Attorney for a yearlong contract position to support high-impact credit initiatives. The role involves advising on BNPL, revolving credit, and merchant financing offerings while collaborating with various stakeholders and conducting regulatory analysis.

Responsibilities

Enable the launch of credit products in the UK and different European markets
Perform legal analysis of new products and new product features relating to consumer credit products in these new markets in addition to existing BNPL markets
Conduct due diligence on complex regulatory topics and support decision-making processes within the company
Analyse new European credit laws and their impact on existing credit products and enable the company to make product adjustments to meet new regulation
Collaborate with teams of other company in-house attorneys, cross-functional stakeholders across the company, and outside advisors (including outside counsel)
Advise and work closely with key stakeholders, including senior executives, Product, Credit Risk, Compliance, Privacy, Treasury, Tax, Accounting, and business functions
Support the team with marketing initiatives, policy reviews, credit risk and collection activities
Handle ad-hoc requests and projects as required

Required

A recognized UK and/or European law degree and significant experience practicing as a qualified solicitor/lawyer either in-house (or in an equivalent setting) or at a reputable law firm
Expertise in consumer credit law and payments laws; expertise in structured finance is a plus
Maturity, self-motivation, independence, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure
Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with business clients and other legal department members
Fluency in English is required; other language skills (of one of the geo-expansion markets) are very welcome
