Responsibilities
Direct supervision, project oversight and mentoring of Designers, Engineers and Team Leads
Oversees the teams developing project engineering, design and construction deliverables including plan and profile sheets, staking sheets, bills of materials, stringing charts, pole loading drawings, framing drawings, and other construction drawings
Creates engineering and design project guidelines and criteria
Provides quality assurance and quality checks for project engineering deliverables developed internally or by third parties
Provides construction support including responding to project RFI's throughout the project life cycle
Regularly interfaces with the client to ensure projects are completed to the client’s satisfaction, on time and under budget
Hires new team members
Forms and leads new teams for new projects, programs, clients, etc
Oversee new hire onboarding and training, conduct ongoing technical team trainings
Coordinate with internal Project Management Organization to execute and deliver projects and manage project change
Develop tools and processes to improve team efficiency, technical quality, and client satisfaction
Develops proposals and work breakdown structure cost estimates for new projects in coordination with Business Development's & Leadership's strategic goals
Qualification
Required
4 yr degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited University
8+ years of transmission and/or distribution line design experience or related utility experience
2+ years of direct Supervisor/leadership experience (may coincide with years of technical experience)
Professional Engineer license (PE) in any U.S. State or Project Management Professional certification (PMP)
Ability to prioritize work, manage tasks for multiple projects and clients under budget and time constraints
High level of personal initiative and the ability to interact with personnel, clients, and contractors
Ability to manage direct reports and lead several teams of engineers and designers
Advanced knowledge of transmission or distribution line design principles and applicable codes
Advanced proficiency in power line design and analysis software such as PLS-CADD or an equivalent
Engagement in continuous improvement activities to expand personal technical knowledge base and skill set
Demonstrated strong compositional and technical writing skills
Preferred
Professional Engineer license (PE) in California
Advanced proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, Pls-Tower, MFAD/FAD Tools, and LPile
Functional knowledge of CPUC General Order 95
