Assistant Vice President - Data Analytics – Remote
Symetra is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Data Analytics to help drive our transformation into a data‑driven enterprise. In this senior leadership role, you’ll shape strategy, lead high‑impact analytics initiatives, and guide teams that build the insights and capabilities powering our business decisions.

Responsibilities
Develop and implement Symetra’s data and analytics strategy in collaboration with IT leaders and business partners
Build strong partnerships across sales, marketing, customer experience, underwriting, claims, actuarial, innovation, and other teams
Find opportunities to improve efficiency, generate revenue, and enhance customer experience through analytics
Establish clear key performance indicators, return on investment metrics, and data literacy initiatives across the organization
Drive innovation by leading both hands on and coaching efforts in descriptive analytics, predictive modeling, and machine learning
Apply sound judgment in selecting the right modeling approach—from simple to complex—based on business need and data maturity
Supervise the creation and maintenance of a stable, trusted, and scalable enterprise data environment
Promote high quality reporting and BI solutions that enable self-service analytics
Ensure responsible data usage and compliance with privacy guidelines
Enhance enterprise data assets through thoughtful integration of third-party data
Lead and mentor technical teams, including direct and matrixed reports
Set clear responsibilities, foster collaboration, and develop team talent
Model a culture of continuous learning, curiosity, and innovation
Qualification
Required
10+ years of proven experience in data analytics, data science, or a related field
3+ years of experience leading, mentoring and developing technical teams
Hands on technical expertise with Python, DBT, and Snowflake
Proficiency with modern data mining, analytics, and visualization tools
Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex concepts clearly
Strategic problem solver with a track record of motivating change and building consensus
Skilled relationship‑builder who can influence at all levels of the organization
Continuous learner who stays current on industry trends and emerging technologies
High School Diploma required, bachelor's degree or higher preferred
Ability to travel occasionally as needed
