Underwriting Operations Analyst
The Doctors Company is the nation’s largest physician-owned medical malpractice insurer, committed to advancing, protecting, and rewarding the practice of good medicine. They are seeking a full-time Underwriting Operations Analyst to support employee training, customer service improvements, and process optimization within the National Underwriting department.

Responsibilities
Ensures all processing activities are accurately completed in accordance with policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
Supports processes, reporting and region collaboration of New York Section 18 Excess Liability Program
Manages and prioritizes daily tasks and assignments to meet deadlines, Underwriter and agent requests, and customer service standards
Maintains appropriate file documentation and organization in accordance with guidelines and project management standards
Provides call and processing overflow support to the Member Support team
Effectively collaborates and supports peers to bring resolution to stakeholders needs or process improvement
Maintains professional, tactful, respectful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Seeks opportunities to advance collaboration with our internal/external customers
Understands the business environment of our internal/external customers to better promote organizational consistency and efficiency
Provides process recommendations to management to continuously improve and support the implementation of new workflows
Embraces change initiatives by supporting changing processes, procedures, organizational initiatives
Recommends Service Level Agreements (SLA) or modifications to SLAs based on workflow and training expectations
Collaborates with management to set clear/attainable policies and procedures
Recommends training programs and QA methodology to support the continuous improvement of employees
Ensures effective communication and expectations settings throughout the project lifecycle
Ensures projects are delivered on-time and resources are used efficiently
Provides support to trainers and trainees
Coordinates all associated logistics and administrative tasks
Works with the Manager/Lead to identify quality assurance milestones and timing
Supports record keeping and routine administrative tasks for the Customer Experience Initiative
Works with manager to identify, and achieve annual and personal development goals
Completes training and maintains proficiency in key underwriting skills
Maintains proficiency in underwriting systems
Performs other assignments as requested and directed by the Underwriting Leaders
Assists with a variety of department and company-wide projects including department research, surveys, and department audits
Makes oneself available for any and all duties
Accepts delegated tasks readily and completes assigned duties as directed
Qualification
Required
High school or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Three (3) years of administrative work of increasing responsibility
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Strong technical writing abilities to include excellent grammar, spelling and proofreading skills for routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of set variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to type 50-55 wpm accurately
Strong knowledge and proficiency with databases and Microsoft 365 products, apps, and services
Proficient in applications, Excel and PowerPoint, to create graphs, diagrams, and charts
Ability to communicate with diverse personalities in a professional, helpful manner for cross-departmental assistance
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and meet strict deadlines
Preferred
Experience in insurance, health care, or customer experience is strongly preferred
