Responsibilities

Works directly on the production floor to observe equipment and processes, identify abnormalities, and respond to operational issues
Troubleshoots mechanical and process-related problems, minimizing downtime and preventing recurrence
Performs root cause analysis on equipment failures, process upsets, and safety incidents; develops and implements corrective and preventive actions
Collaborates with operations and maintenance teams to resolve issues in real time and ensure effective handoff of long-term solutions
Analyzes repetitive equipment failures and chronic production issues to identify trends and underlying causes
Recommends and implements improvements such as equipment modifications, operating parameter changes, maintenance strategy updates, or component upgrades
Supports preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives to improve equipment reliability and plant uptime
Evaluates equipment condition and performance to proactively address potential failures before they impact production
Conducts field measurements, inspections, and data collection to support troubleshooting and improvement efforts
Performs engineering calculations and analyses related to stresses, temperatures, pressures, flow, heat transfer, and safety factors as needed to support solutions
Reviews existing equipment designs and past solutions to ensure practical, proven approaches are applied
Works with equipment vendors and manufacturers’ representatives to resolve operational issues, improve reliability, and optimize maintenance practices
Requests and reviews technical information and quotations for replacement or upgraded components
Assists in selecting equipment and materials based on reliability, maintainability, safety, cost, and delivery considerations
Develops a strong understanding of the plant’s products, processes, and equipment to identify opportunities for efficiency, quality, and cost improvement
Provides technical input to improve plant profitability, throughput, safety, and product consistency
Supports implementation of small capital improvements and operational changes focused on production reliability
Supports small to medium-sized projects related to equipment upgrades, reliability improvements, or safety enhancements
Assists with preparation of material lists, cost estimates, schedules, and documentation as required
Monitors project expenditures and communicates potential cost or schedule risks to the supervisor

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment strongly preferred
Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively on the production floor in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams
Working knowledge of CAD software and Microsoft Office tools
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical personnel
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet time-sensitive deadlines
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Willingness to pursue ongoing training and development to support plant needs
