The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking an Assistant Director of Academic Advising and Retention, Progression & Completion. This leadership position is responsible for developing programs aimed at advising and retaining students, overseeing initiatives, and managing a caseload of undergraduate students.

Responsibilities

Help with the development and execution of programs directed towards advising, retaining and graduating students
Oversee advising projects/initiatives as determined by campus leadership
Advise a caseload of undergraduate students within the college and be responsible for knowing all related University, College and Departmental policies, procedures and curriculum
Coordinate all RPC initiatives which include creating a year-long strategic plan with specific RPC projects
Track students’ academic progress and design experiences (programs, support initiatives, etc.) for at-risk and special populations
Identify barriers to student success and develop/implement differentiated care solutions and targeted support programming/initiatives
Oversee programs designed to increase student retention, including the Urban Ambassador - Peer Mentoring program
Have supervisory responsibilities and assume responsibilities of the Associate Director and/or Director in their absence

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
a minimum of 3 years of experience in advising
Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date

Preferred

3-5 years experience in an advising or an advising related field
1-3 years of management and/or supervisory experience
Knowledge and working experience with Retention, Progression, Completion initiatives which include knowledge of data systems (e.g., UNLV Analytics, MyUNLV) to help research and extract data for projects
Knowledge of university technologies specific to advising
Proven track record of designing and implementing student success initiatives
