Wire Assembler
Orion Industries is a manufacturing company specializing in wire assembly. They are seeking a Wire Assembler to conduct pre-production setups, ensure quality standards, and support manufacturing processes while utilizing their Quality Management System.

Responsibilities
Conducts pre-production set-up, ensuring efficient workstation layout and that all materials are available and acceptable for use and obtains buyoff from authorized co-worker
Conducts inspection of all tasks performed, ensuring that all products and services meet quality standards
Performs and documents intermittent quality checks (continuity, pull tests, etc.)
Informs Supervisor of all non-conformances immediately per existing procedures
Endeavors every day to reduce and eliminate non-conformances
Performs all jobs according to customer requirements utilizing Orion’s Quality Management System, engineering drawings, specifications, job plans, parts lists, SDS and other required documents as applicable
Assigned processes include, but are not limited to, clocking, crimping/simple, disassembly, kitting, packaging/part protection, part marking, sorting, terminals, tool set up and bracket building
Models appropriate work performance as an example to Orion’s clientele
Uses ERP system to accurately track time and materials
Uses Payroll system to accurately track time
Accurately records traceability information on job traveler
Support all members of the Manufacturing and Orion team
Completes first article inspection on all new jobs ensuring that job kits are complete, tools are identified and available and first article is assembled per customer requirements; obtains buy-off from Quality Assurance
Builds and/or buys off first part for each new work-order according to customer requirements. Verifies previous processes are complete as required for multi-departmental assembly
Documents all non-conformance immediately per existing procedures
Instruct Program Participants on processing work within delivery requirements
Provides technical support to Wire Assembler 1 and 2
Supports process improvements by utilizing 6S strategies, contributing to lean-line design, devising shop-aides, suggesting cost reduction strategies, etc
Conducts in-process inspection for jobs within the department as required by job planning procedures
Provides technical support to all shop employees regarding setup, layout, engineering drawings interpretation, process specifications, etc
Provides On-the-Job training to Wire Assemblers 1, 2 and 3
Assists Supervisor in evaluating potential new work by determining shop capability and capacity
Programs and runs laser marking machines
Assists supervisor in evaluating new work, implementing standardized bid and costing procedures and determining shop capability and capacity
Assumes supervisory responsibilities in supervisor’s absence and/or when needed
Qualification
Required
Use and be familiar with assembly and measuring tools, such as hand held crimper, stripper, contact insertion and extraction tool, scale, heat gun, and a variety of small hand tools and fixtures
Interpret visual aids
Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to carry out simple one or two-step instructions
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Previous wire or general assembly experience a plus
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications at an intermediate level
Completion of wire termination 10 gauge and smaller certification
Completion of solder certification
Ability to interpret precision measuring instruments and to record findings
Ability to perform minor to moderately complex wire assemblies using various processes
Ability to part-mark various part configurations
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations written in English
Ability to solder using iron, solder pot, or solder sleeves
Ability to utilize computer programs and input data accurately
Completion of electrical bonding certifications: Type 1 and Type 2
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures/instructions in mathematical or diagram form and government regulations
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages and to interpret graphs
Able to effectively train, direct and motivate employees toward company's goals
Ability to define problems and present viable options for resolution
Willingness and ability to be flexible and adaptive to change while directing and supporting others through the change process
Effectively present information to and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, visitors and employees
Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures in computer programs such as Intuitive, Word, Excel and Access
Preferred
One to two years of experience in a wire assembly/manufacturing capacity preferred
Three or more years of experience in a wire assembly/manufacturing position preferred
