Central Arizona Project (CAP) is a vital organization that supplies Colorado River water to millions in Arizona. The Controls Engineer in Training will support the training and development of future engineers while providing reliability engineering services and contributing to the planning and construction of CAP features.

Responsibilities

Provides productive work, or assistance to other senior staff, for the purposes of planning and constructing new features of the CAP and modifying, operating, and maintaining existing features of the CAP, through application of general engineering knowledge. This includes the preparation of, or technical review of, plans and specifications, internal Work Packages, and materials and cost estimates
Provide control systems design including but not limited to:
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
Sub-Station Automation Controllers (RTUs)
Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
Control schematics and wiring diagrams
Supports and receives mentoring from higher grade level engineers in the execution of all assigned work
Actively seeks out opportunities for expansion of engineering knowledge and experience and exposure to, and participation with, other CAP departments and divisions
While working with other engineers, participates in the preparation and coordination of technical studies and investigations. Communicates the outcomes in a complete and professional manner to all appropriate levels

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Must possess and be able to demonstrate good communication and professional interpersonal skills
Familiar with design and hardware around control system design
PLC software development experience (manufacturer preference is Rockwell)
HMI software development
Design experience of 600V or less systems
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam within one year of hire is required
Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record
This is a safety-sensitive position and requires physical testing
