Project Engineer
North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) provides vital wholesale water, wastewater and solid waste management services to more than two million people in North Texas. The Project Engineer functions in an engineering project delivery role, managing capital improvement projects from inception through construction, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities
Performs project management functions supporting the delivery of capital improvement projects from inception, throughout the lifespan of the project: design, procurement, construction to startup, commissioning and handover to Operations team
Performs role of project leader for design and construction of major water and wastewater projects ensuring conformance with NTMWD standards, operational needs, and regulatory requirements
Reviews design reports, plans and specifications for completeness and technical accuracy
Maintains accurate project records in NTMWD’s project management system including correspondence, reports, design documents, schedule and project cost updates
Participates in and documents project meetings including design review meetings and construction progress meetings
Manages construction project delivery with focus on project quality, schedule and cost control including review of submittals, RFIs, change orders, payment applications, and field observation reports
Coordinates with Operations, Maintenance, and other NTMWD departments to address operational impacts and assist with tie-ins and facility shutdowns
Manages completion of project including start-up, testing, and commissioning and review of final record drawings
Performs and/or manages special projects and studies needed
Tasked with leading project chartering meetings, developing requests for interviews and possible participation in the selection of professional services contracts
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or other related engineering field received from an accredited college or university
Possession of a Professional Engineering registration for a minimum of two years or a minimum of 6 years progressive experience in project management of water and wastewater infrastructure
Possession of a Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license, or current licensure as a Professional Engineer in another state and the ability to obtain Texas PE licensure within six (6) months from the date of hire
Experience in water/wastewater process, treatment, pumping, collection (wastewater), transmission (water) pipeline design and construction; or electrical experience with medium voltage and low voltages systems
Experience utilizing engineering design and project management software
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Effective written and verbal communications skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred
Prior experience or familiarity with project management, scheduling, modeling software, and design software platforms
