Government Relations Senior Manager

Responsibilities

Develop and implement AAOS’ federal policy program with the Business Lead
Engage in direct federal lobbying, building relationships with elected and appointed officials
Lead strategic planning for assigned legislative issues. Design, communicate, and execute full issue strategies
Monitor, analyze, and prepare clear advocacy resources and federal updates
Build and maintain coalitions and relationships with external organizations
Draft federal legislative articles, fact sheets, talking points, testimony, and advocacy communications
Serve as the legislative team liaison to AAOS Board of Specialty societies; provide policy analysis and updates
Represent AAOS at Political Action Committee (PAC) fundraisers and support PAC strategy development
Lead AAOS grassroots efforts, including messaging, programming, and distribution with Marketing & Communications
Manage meetings with Congress, secure speakers, coordinate materials, and support major advocacy events
Train and oversee Office of Government Relations (OGR) interns
Co‑lead Advisor’s Circle Members, including calls, travel, and strategy planning
Present at BOS society meetings and coordinate responses to their policy needs

Required

Bachelor's degree (political science, public policy, or health-related field preferred)
4–6 years of related experience (Congressional staff, regulatory agency, trade association)
Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and relationship‑building skills
Strong computer and design‑software skills
Independent judgment and the ability to manage complex priorities

Preferred

Capitol Hill experience or experience supporting senior association leadership
