City of Phoenix is hosting a diverse range of events at the Phoenix Convention Center and is seeking an Accountant III to oversee Event Accounting. This supervisory role involves managing financial records, ensuring tax compliance, and collaborating with event staff to maintain smooth financial operations.

Managing general ledger activities
Processing accounts payable and receivable
Recording cash receipts
Preparing event settlement reports
Ensuring tax compliance
Reconciling the Client Trust Bank Account

Qualification

Required

Four years of progressively responsible experience as a professional accountant, including some experience training and supervising paraprofessional and professional accounting personnel
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration or a related field
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position

Preferred

Experience with/in system administration of a financial system
Reconciliation between two financial systems
Auditing/reviewing work of staff
Auditing process and procedures
Accounts payable and receivable
Reading and interpreting GAAP
Supervising staff of accountants, auditors, or related business professionals (i.e.: TPT, Accounting, Corporate Tax, etc.)
