Responsibilities
Lead the integration of new or pre-commercial technologies into utility systems
Support pilot projects, evaluate performance against success criteria, and determine readiness for broader deployment
Develop, update, and maintain engineering standards to support new technologies
Ensure standards align with regulatory requirements, risk mitigation strategies, and business objectives
Partner with Project Leads, Subject Matter Experts, Operations, Construction & Maintenance, and Training teams
Act as a technical liaison to ensure smooth technology transition across organizations
Support development of training plans for end users
Ensure operating manuals, maintenance procedures, and documentation are updated prior to deployment
Define asset ownership and maintenance responsibilities
Support SAP and Master Data integration for new technologies
Manage standards change requests through the full standards lifecycle
Conduct impact assessments related to operations, safety, and training
Identify gaps and provide feedback to asset strategy and planning teams
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
Experience in Transmission, Distribution, or Substation engineering within a utility environment
Strong understanding of engineering standards and compliance requirements
Familiarity with CPUC General Orders and/or NERC standards
Ability to evaluate technical impacts of standards changes (clearances, loads, safety, operations)
Experience collaborating with engineering, operations, and field teams
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, SPIDA, AUD/DM
Experience supporting technology pilots and utility-scale deployments
Working knowledge of SAP for asset or master data integration
