Responsibilities
Work within multi-disciplinary teams
Providing technical expertise in completing transportation structure design and construction projects from conceptual and preliminary design to final design and construction
Develop structural calculations/designs, drawings, specifications, field inspections, cost estimates and reports
Training, directing, and mentoring junior engineers and CAD staff
Coordinate design activities and meetings between Jacobs staff and subcontractors
Assist in business development activities and proposal efforts
Qualification
Required
A minimum of 5 – 10 years of progressive experience as a Structural Engineer in the design of transportation structures and/or bridges
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering field from an ABET accredited university or college
ID Professional Engineer License (or the ability to obtain within one year)
Experience with multiple structure types including precast and post-tensioned concrete girder bridges, steel girder bridges, bridge widenings, and bridge rehabilitations
Experience in preparation of construction drawings and specifications
Strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of technical standards for bridge design, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance including AASHTO LRFD, AREMA, and state-specific guidelines
Knowledge of various software packages like LEAP Bridge, PGSuper, MDX, spColumn, LPile, BrR, BRASS, Midas, CSi Bridge, Larsa, SAP2000, etc
Familiarity with ProjectWise and MicroStation
Familiarity with FHWA requirements and guidelines
Ability to produce technical memorandums and reports
Experience with project quantities and cost estimation
Ability to manage multiple tasks and small projects independently
