Responsibilities
Maintain state highways, airports, seaplane floats, bridges, and docks to ensure safe and operable conditions, including snow and ice control, pavement repair, brushing, drainage, and traffic control, such as flagging
Operate and maintain a variety of light and heavy equipment such as plow trucks, loaders, graders, sweepers, and specialized airport vehicles
Perform airport operations tasks including runway inspections, friction testing, issuing NOTAMs, and ensuring FAA certification compliance
Provide Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) support, including stand-by duties, training, certification, and equipment maintenance
Conduct airport security and wildlife management activities in compliance with FAA, TSA, and State regulations
Qualification
Required
A current copy of your CDL with endorsements
A current copy of your ARFF Certification, if applicable
Class B Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at the time of hire for Equipment Operator Journey 1
Must successfully obtain a Class A CDL within 120 days of hire for Equipment Operator Journey 1
Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at time of hire for Equipment Operator Journey 2
Must successfully obtain the N Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire for Equipment Operator Journey 2
Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at time of hire for Equipment Operator Lead Journey 3
Must successfully obtain the N Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire for Equipment Operator Lead Journey 3
Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures
Must pass the required Pre-Employment drug test
Must obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) at their expense
Education credentials must be verified with transcripts
Work experience must be documented in the application
Knowledge of emergency management methods, such as first aid, rescue techniques, and threat assessments
