Responsibilities
Maintains data integrity for the facility and Master Person Indices (MPI) for Shands HealthCare
Assists in maintaining a secure and accessible Master Patient Index for Shands HealthCare so that it uniquely identifies each patient receiving services
Resolves duplicate and overlay cases
Corrects, reconciles, and merges data/reports in multiple systems
Works multiple reports and communicates with UF and Shands departments
Monitors and updates the duplicate tracking applications
Works closely resolving customer issues
Assists with customer education and training
Provides on-call coverage as required
Qualification
Required
AA/AS degree in health information, information technology or related field
Three years progressively responsible work experience in health information or registration department; or BA/BS in health information management or information technology with one-year health information and/or registration experience
If education (completed) is NOT concentrated on health information or information technology, will also consider dedicated 4-5 years of progressive medical records or registration experience
Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience using multiple healthcare computer systems/applications
Proficient in using Microsoft Office products especially Word and Excel
Must demonstrate ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, recognize and react to changing priorities, make timely and accurate judgment decisions, and work independent of direct supervision
Must be able to work in an environment where access to and control of confidential information is a significant issue
Excellent organization skills and high productivity required
Must have excellent communication skills and be able to train others
