Responsibilities
Utilizes hand and power tools to maintain airfield runways, taxiway entrances, light lanes, and parking lots
Repairs and maintains equipment. Performs preventative maintenance within the airport, including replacing filters, cleaning fans, and checking and repairing refrigerator leaks
Performs runway, taxiway, and ramp maintenance, including maintaining and repairing Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL). Communicates with air traffic control technicians via two-way radio while working around moving aircraft
Maintains and troubleshoots the medium and high intensities of the airfield navigational light system
Performs other related duties as required
Occasional after-hours work required for Public Works emergencies
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by vocational or technical training in airfield movement
Two years of experience in landscape maintenance, vehicle maintenance, or equipment operation to include one year of lead or supervisory experience
Must obtain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver's license (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s) within 6 months of employment
Airfield Certification to be obtained within three (3) months of employment
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position
