Tooling and Die Technician

The Tooling and Die Technician is responsible for maintaining, inventorying, and preparing tooling and dies for production, ensuring efficiency and productivity in the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities
Inspect, feel and measure tooling and dies for wear, rough surfaces, and be able to measure using micrometers, calipers, scales and gauges necessary to accuracy measure to the correct specifications
Responsible to ensure all tool and die sets are inventoried, placed in the appropriate marked tooling bin and stored in the correct location for quick and efficient retrieval when needed
Receives all new tooling into the tool crib, ensures the tooling is properly labeled, stored and inventoried in the tooling storage room
Cleans and maintains the tools stored in the tooling locations, maintains a clean and safe working environment
Coordinates with the Manufacturing Production Supervisor on all jobs that will need tooling to be ready to ensure the compressing department has the necessary tooling and dies to maximize productivity at all times
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. as needed during the entire shift
Must be able to alter from standing to sitting throughout the workday as required
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or Certificate; or 6 months to 1 year of related experience and/or training
Familiar with all tooling and Die functions in a tool crib environment
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to read, write and speak English
Must be able to use, measure and decipher tooling and die measurements using the standard measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, 1000th scales and other precision measuring tools
Must have experience in tool storage and inventory to maintain and store expensive and sophisticated tooling
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. as needed during the entire shift
Must be able to alter from standing to sitting throughout the workday as required
