Product Design Engineer Senior

PSG, a Dover Company, is a global expert in pump, metering, and dispensing solutions. The Product Design Engineer Senior will design new products and develop improvements based on functional specifications, applying engineering principles and Finite Element Analysis.

Responsibilities

Work with cross functional teams to develop new products and conduct design reviews
Product engineering activities: troubleshooting performance issues, root cause analysis, and product design enhancements
Project planning and implementation using MS Project or similar tools
Use SolidWorks 3-D software to build solid models and create cross-sectional layouts. Able to perform tolerance stack-up analysis, and apply GD&T
Develop product test plans, identify instrumentation and measurements required, and perform testing to validate new product designs
Must understand fundamental manufacturing processes for wrought and cast, gray and ductile iron, steel, stainless steel, bronze, aluminum, and plastics
Perform analysis of design and performance data resulting from R&D testing
Provide technical assistance to customers, suppliers, and internal groups: Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Field Service, Purchasing, and Quality Control
Assure integrity of issued drawings, Bills of Material, and applicable engineering specifications such as ASTM, ANSI B31.1, API-675, and ANSI/HI 6.6
Obtain approvals as required with respect to certifying and regulatory agencies (UL, CSA, CE, NSF, ATEX)
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Applies critical reasoning to making decisions

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 7 years of related work experience
Proficient in SolidWorks 3-D design software or equivalent and experience performing Finite Element Analysis
Knowledgeable in Product Development, able to design optimized components and systems based on specifications and customer requirements
Able to develop and execute complex project plans, ensuring that various stages of product development are completed on time by leading cross functional teams
Excellent communicator with an interest in working across organizational lines, able to direct the work of others
Demonstrated design experience in relevant manufacturing processes such as sand casting, investment casting, die casting, injection molding, machining, and metal forming
Must understand fundamental manufacturing processes for wrought and cast, gray and ductile iron, steel, stainless steel, bronze, aluminum, and plastics
Assure integrity of issued drawings, Bills of Material, and applicable engineering specifications such as ASTM, ANSI B31.1, API-675, and ANSI/HI 6.6
