Lead Nuclear Accountability Specialist

COMPA Industries is seeking a Lead Nuclear Accountability Specialist to support Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). This role provides senior-level leadership and subject matter expertise for Nuclear Material Control & Accountability (NMC&A) programs, ensuring compliance and effective performance in a highly regulated federal environment.

Responsibilities

Lead the Nuclear Material Control & Accountability (NMC&A) Topical Area, including ownership of the Site NMC&A Plan and System Effectiveness Plan
Provide oversight, review, revision, and approval authority for Manual 14Q NMC&A procedures
Develop and issue the Annual NMC&A System Effectiveness Report
Serve as Designee and Issue Analysis lead for all NMC&A STAR records
Develop Lines of Inquiry (LOIs) and approve NMC&A self-assessment cards
Monitor, analyze, and document anomalies within the System Effectiveness Plan
Plan, develop, approve, and execute NMC&A Performance Tests (PTs)
Create, coordinate, approve, and act as Controller for Enterprise Assessment (EA) Limited Notice Performance Tests (LNPTs)
Serve as NMC&A Training Subject Matter Expert (SME), including development, maintenance, approval, and delivery of SRNS and NTC training courses
Assist management with NMC&A budget planning and projections
Perform Management Field Observations (MFOs)
Develop NMC&A strategies to support new or evolving site missions
Support Classification Office activities related to NMC&A topics
Support Vulnerability Assessment and Security Risk Assessment (SRA) activities
Act as backup Site Shipping & Receiving Coordinator
Serve as the primary NMC&A Subject Matter Expert and interface with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
Approve purchase requisitions and support procurement actions
Provide leadership feedback related to training, performance, and workforce development
May provide relief for or represent the next immediate level of management as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline
12+ years of accounting or nuclear material inventory experience
Advanced degree (MBA or MS) with 2+ years of relevant experience
8+ years of Nuclear Material Control & Accountability (NMC&A) experience in lieu of degree
Extensive experience with Nuclear Material Control & Accountability (NMC&A) at a DOE/NNSA site
Significant hands-on experience with Local Area Nuclear Material Accounting Software (LANMAS)
Experience performing nuclear material accounting and physical inventory reconciliation
Strong understanding of DOE nuclear material accounting systems and reporting requirements
Knowledge of accounting, chemistry, and physics as applied to nuclear material tracking
Experience leading audits, assessments, performance testing, and corrective actions
Proficiency with spreadsheets and data analysis tools
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional stakeholders
U.S. Citizenship Required
DOE Q Clearance (active preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain)
Travel: Up to one (1) week per month as required

Preferred

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
QMF and/or SQL training
Experience developing functional requirements for nuclear material accounting software
Experience supporting enterprise software implementation across DOE/NNSA sites
Prior or active DOE Q clearance
