Responsibilities
Develop structural designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software
Perform calculations to ensure structures can withstand various loads and forces
Analyze building materials for strength, durability, and cost-effectiveness
Prepare detailed drawings and specifications for construction
Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other professionals to ensure project alignment
Oversee construction sites to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards
Manage project timelines and budgets
Ensure all designs adhere to local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
Conduct inspections and provide certifications as required by law
Identify and resolve design and construction issues
Provide technical advice and support during construction phases
Prepare and present reports, proposals, and other documentation
Maintain accurate records of design changes and project progress
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in structural engineering or a related field
Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering design tools
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work
Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time
Sitting for extended periods of time
Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction
Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard
Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
Read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Identify and understand the speech of another person
Preferred
Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license
