The Staff Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing and analyzing state and local sales/use and franchise tax returns, completing monthly accounting reporting, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

Responsibilities

Files state, and local tax documents by preparing property tax returns, municipal returns, extensions, and quarterly payments
Prepares and files multi state sales and use tax and franchise tax returns
Prepares tax provision schedules by reviewing, preparing, and consolidating provision schedules
Recommends tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues
Maintains legislative materials by reviewing, interpreting, and implementing new or revised laws
Maintains compliance with regulations by forwarding required information to federal, state, and local authorities
Revises procedures by developing and streamlining procedures and worksheets for calculation of tax provisions
Respond to inquiries from regulatory agencies
Perform tax research, staying up to date on changes
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
Other Tax items as needed
Support month-end and year-end close process
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/ Tax/ Finance or higher from an accredited college or university
2+ years of related experience
Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel (and other Microsoft Office products)

Preferred

Working towards industry certification (e.g. CMA or CPA)
Netsuite experience
Experience in tax accounting within a high growth tech firm
