Director of Estimating
Bell & Associates, Inc. is seeking a Director of Estimating to lead their estimating department. This role is responsible for delivering accurate estimates, mentoring the estimating team, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to align project goals with the company's financial objectives.

Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop the estimating team; assign bids, set expectations, and ensure on-time completion
Manage departmental capacity and proactively communicate resource needs to avoid deadline risks
Conduct regular estimating meetings and align priorities with Business Development and Marketing
Hold team members accountable for accuracy, responsiveness, and professionalism
Own and maintain the estimating process from opportunity intake through bid submission
Enforce standardized templates, bid folders, and naming conventions
Oversee estimating software and system integrations to improve efficiency and transparency
Ensure all bid opportunities and related data are accurately tracked and kept up to date
Provide input on project complexity, risk, and resource requirements to support pursuit decisions
Prioritize and assign estimating resources to pre-approved projects with the highest strategic and financial return
Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved resource efficiency
Oversee evaluation of subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive pricing and scope alignment
Track and report key metrics, including:
Active bids, submitted bids, and total bid value (rounded to the nearest $10,000)
Estimating accuracy versus actual cost and bid hit rate (win/loss percentage)
Department capacity and workload forecasting
Ensure all metrics are current and visible on the department scorecard weekly
Participate in regular leadership meetings focused on strategic priorities, process improvement, and team development
Partner closely with Business Development and Sales on approved pursuits and bid outcomes
Coordinate with Project Management and Operations to ensure a smooth handoff on awarded projects
Support Marketing with scope details, clarifications, and proposal alignment
Qualification
Required
5-10+ years of estimating experience in construction industry
Previous supervisory experience required
Preferred
Bachelor's degree and/or certifications a plus
Groundwork construction project experience preferred
Trimble experience preferred
