The Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing the organization’s technology infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient system operations
This role manages core systems, networks, and user environments while providing technical support and collaborating with internal teams to support daily operations
The Systems Administrator plays a key role in system stability, security, and continuous improvement across the organization’s technology environment
Research, troubleshoot, and resolve technology issues (software, hardware, network, audio-visual, etc.) for staff and students at all locations
Serve as a Systems Administrator responsible for the configuration, administration, and ongoing reliability of enterprise systems and infrastructure supporting staff and student operations
Configure, deploy, and maintain software platforms, applications, and core IT systems, ensuring stable performance and scalability
Administer identity and access management using role-based access control (RBAC), enforcing least-privilege access across systems and applications
Maintain IT practices aligned with FERPA and PCI DSS requirements, ensuring secure handling, storage, and transmission of sensitive data
Provide advanced Tier 2 escalation support, performing deep technical troubleshooting and documenting root cause analysis and resolutions
Manage systems operations and reliability, including patching schedules, update management, backup verification, and support of formal change management processes
Develop, maintain, and improve technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and infrastructure diagrams to support consistency and operational excellence
Contribute to process improvement initiatives that increase system uptime, reduce incidents, and improve team efficiency
Utilize PowerShell and command-line tools to automate routine administrative tasks and streamline IT operations
Support security operations, including endpoint protection, patch compliance, security policies, vulnerability mitigation, and backup and disaster recovery planning
Maintain strong working knowledge of network infrastructure, including IP addressing and subnetting, DNS, DHCP, firewall configuration, and VPN troubleshooting and support
Collaborate with the Director of Technology on infrastructure planning, system improvements, and long-term reliability initiatives
Work independently and collaboratively with staff to prioritize and achieve optimal solutions in a timely manner
Travel to locations for transport, deployment, and configuration of technology
Assist with the maintenance and repair of networks to ensure staff and student safety and security
Maintain confidentiality and integrity of electronic records
Provide training to staff and students on the appropriate and effective use of technology
Assist with maintaining inventory of AAED and FMG technology
Demonstrate and maintain a positive, professional, and student-oriented attitude and learning environment in all interactions and be a collaborative and contributing member of the class and campus team
Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students, management, administration, faculty, and staff to support personal, social, academic, and intellectual development of students
Maintain confidentiality as it pertains to student information, company trade secrets, and proprietary confidential information, including but not limited to policies, business practices, curriculum, organizational data, lists, charts, reports, and other confidential information as described in the Employment Agreement
Maintain required records and data according to current or future established policies and procedures or as otherwise requested, ensuring the timely and accurate availability of information
Attend and participate in all company-sponsored professional development, on-campus or off-campus trainings, in-service activities, and meetings to improve job-related skills
Adhere to the Employee Handbook guidelines and other workplace policies and procedures
Comply with and perform the contractual duties and obligations set forth in the Employment Agreement and any other written or otherwise binding agreements
Report suspicious conduct or activities to management or law enforcement in emergencies and/or as required by law
Perform other duties or tasks as directed by management and as necessary to ensure the company’s mission is carried out
Comply with all local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and laws, including anti-harassment, privacy, and workplace safety requirements
Qualification
Required
3–5 years of progressive IT experience, ideally including both help desk and systems administration responsibilities
Demonstrated experience administering enterprise systems, user access, and infrastructure components
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing/subnetting, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and VPN technologies
Experience supporting security best practices, patch management, endpoint protection, and backup/disaster recovery planning
Proficiency with PowerShell and command-line tools for automation and system management
Proven ability to create and maintain technical documentation and SOPs
Experience handling Tier 2 escalations and complex technical issues in a production environment
Must possess valid driver's license & pass 39-month DMV history check
Ability to travel independently to all AAED campuses (Phoenix, Tempe, Chandler, Tucson)
Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card
Knowledge of Operating systems: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, iOS, ChromeOS
Knowledge of MDM / Management: Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Apple Configurator
Knowledge of User Applications: Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite
Knowledge of Imaging: Macrium Reflect, Windows PE
Proficient in Microsoft Admin Center
Knowledge of Network/LAN: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN, general understanding of network topology
Knowledge of AV equipment including speakers, Pas, mixers and microphones
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
Sit for extended periods of time
Ability to view large volumes of written materials via computer screen, records, correspondence, and/or documentation for extended periods of time
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Perform some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling (up to 40 lbs. and above)
Maintain independent mobility to move about the school throughout the day
Work in noisy and crowded environments
Availability to work a full-time schedule (40+ hours per week), including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
Preferred
A+ Certification and prior experience working in help desk, network set-up and troubleshooting strongly preferred
