Responsibilities
Build, deploy, and test Helm Charts, ArgoCD applications, and Terraform configuration files
Develop procedures, scripts, and playbooks to automate software and COTS application package updates
Build software packages and deploy/test them in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
Automate Linux operating system updates and patches
Deploy and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure
Track software bugs and security vulnerabilities, ensuring timely remediation
Develop and maintain automated software build, test, and deployment processes including CI/CD pipelines
Collaborate with software, network, and systems engineering teams to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency of global satellite systems
Administer and troubleshoot Linux/Unix servers and maintain TCP/IP networking configurations
Support virtualization technologies such as ESXi, OpenStack, or similar
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
10+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or DevOps roles
10+ years of experience scripting in Python, Bash, or similar languages
Strong experience with deployment automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform
Proficiency with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory, ArgoCD, Make, etc
Deep understanding of software build processes and automation principles
Extensive experience administering Linux/Unix servers
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols
Experience with cloud infrastructure deployment and management, preferably AWS
Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
Familiarity with SQL database systems and basic administration
Must be willing to travel to Viasat offices as needed
Preferred
3+ years working with virtualization technologies (ESXi, OpenStack)
Prior experience with large-scale software deployment in global satellite or telecom systems
Exposure to cloud-native architectures and microservices deployment
